There's plenty of "3d backgrounds with 2d animation" scenes throughout mob psycho, and it is always done extremely well imo. One memorable scene is episode 1 when mob exorcises the first spirit. actually, every sakuga filled scene in the anime are hand drawn by Bones' veteran animators..
