Gillian Youngs Professor of Creative and Digital Economy, University of Westminster, London

Gillian Youngs has been a researcher and online innovator since the early days of the Internet including applying feminist theories and perspectives and working with women across the world. She has worked with technology and transformation issues throughout her professional life, first in the media and then as an entrepreneur in the media and communications sector, and for the last 25 years as a scholar and researcher.
Her academic work, initially on globalisation, has always been interdisciplinary and international, and her research related to digital innovation is applied and policy-related. She is currently Professor of Creative and Digital Economy and Head of Innovation and Impact at the Westminster School of Media, Arts and Design, University of Westminster, in the UK.
Gillian has recently been contributing as an expert to the European Commission on Horizon 2020 in the areas of digital innovation, security and gender. She is active in national policy processes in the UK around industrial strategy, creative sector, and digital skills and inclusive innovation.
